The upcoming Xbox One X system is preparing for launch and boasts to be the most powerful console on the market to date. Often compared to a mid-level gaming PC, Microsoft wants their fans to know that they are doing everything they can to make sure that the newest platform exceeds expectations. That being said, Team Xbox has confirmed that the certification for HDMI 2.1 support will be available before the system’s launch.
Microsoft took to the Twitter-verse to confirm the new format support

Certified for 2.0 now. Will certify for 2.1 when the spec is finalized (it isn't yet, hopefully by Nov).

So what does HDMI 2.1 mean exactly, and is there a huge difference? Comparatively, the HDMI 2.0 has a data bandwidth sitting at 18Gbits/s. The HDMI 2.1 should come in at more than double that estimated around 48 Gbit/s, which means great things for resolution:
  • Output resolution 7680 x 4320 for 8K at 60Hz
  • Output resolution 3840 x 2160 for 4K at 120 Hz

The basic rundown of the other specs included in the upcoming power console can be found here, as well as the Microsoft reveal trailer below. At the end of the day, though, the Xbox One X is a beast – though in a smaller package.
